Pulpectomy

Inside every tooth, in every person, is a material known as pulp. While the enamel and dentin on the outer layers of the teeth are tough and lifeless, the pulp inside is soft, living and very sensitive. When the outer layers of the tooth are damaged, it is possible for the pulp inside to become infected. In some cases, the best option for saving the tooth is a procedure known as a pulpectomy.

What Happens During Pulpectomy Treatment?

The simplest explanation of the procedure is that it removes infected or diseased pulp from the tooth. The goal of the treatment is save the tooth so that it doesn’t have to be pulled. A pulpectomy is similar to a root canal, and is actually typically a part of the root canal process. After a dentist or endodontist removes the damaged pulp from the tooth, the area inside the tooth is disinfected and then filled with an inert material.

PIT and FISSURE SEALANTS

Teeth have natural dips or grooves in them, known as pit and fissure Sealants. It’s all very groovy in one sense, but when it comes to keeping your children’s teeth clean and free of cavities, pits and fissures aren’t groovy at all.

Pits and fissure sealants house bacteria and other substances which can cause tooth decay in children, and these grooves can’t always be properly cleaned with a normal toothbrush.

Dentists have developed pit and fissure sealants which can fill and seal the grooves in children’s teeth and prevent bacteria getting in. They make teeth easier to clean and reduce the risk a child will experience tooth decay.

Fissure sealants are recommended for filling the adult or primary teeth of children who have a high risk of developing cavities. And even children who brush and floss regularly can be considered high risk, depending for example on the amount of fluoride they consume and the shape of their teeth (particularly the groovy parts).

Children are not always able to clean their teeth properly with a normal toothbrush.

Pit and fissure sealants may make it easier for your child to clean their teeth properly, especially if they have deep and narrow pits and grooves in their teeth.

Dentists may recommend sealants for your child even if they brush and floss their teeth regularly.

FLUORIDE FILLINGS

Fluoride fillings are one of the most effective treatments available for preventing and limiting the occurrence and spread of tooth decay.

It is a naturally occurring mineral found in foods and drinks, such as fish and tea, but it can also be synthesized (manufactured).

Synthetic fluoride is used in toothpastes, from which most people get the daily required fluoride quantities. Adult, as well as children, need to focus on brushing teeth with fluoride pastes on a regular basis as well as consume water which contains fluoride in it in the recommended quantities.

If you are not able to follow these basic things, then you should get fluoride fillings done to provide the required fluoride amounts to your teeth on a daily basis.

KIDS ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Young children have high chances of getting infected root canal which thereby leads to the degraded primary teeth as well as immature permanent teeth. This is often the result of trauma or dental caries (tooth decay) and creates a unique problem for the child. The timely treatment of the primary teeth of a child is necessary for his future as it provides a base for the successful and timely eruption and functioning of the permanent teeth. So, parents of young kids need to understand the importance of keeping their kid’s primary teeth in a healthy condition and avoid any procrastination in getting the dental problems treated.

The primary teeth provide important guides for the newly developing permanent teeth that will replace them. Injury to the young permanent teeth leads to negative effect on the growth of the teeth as well as the jaw. This proves the worth of treating the primary tooth properly at the right point of time. If your child has any pain or discomfort in any of tooth, one of the first steps which need to be taken is to visit a dentist and ensure to get the dental problems checked.

It’s of paramount importance that we try our best to save as many natural milk teeth as possible by fillings or RCT.

Several patients do not understand the necessity of having dental care. They are one of the top options for preventing your teeth from future dental problems thereby increasing the lifetime of the healthy teeth in your mouth. So, if your dentist suggests you for the treatment, then you should understand this and opt for the treatment for your restorative treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pediatric Dentisry Treatment

Paediatric dentistry is crucial for ensuring proper oral health from an early age. It helps prevent dental issues, instills good oral hygiene habits, and addresses developmental problems, ensuring healthy teeth and gums as children grow.

Common pediatric dental procedures include cavity fillings, fluoride treatments, sealants, tooth extractions, and space maintainers. Dentists may also provide routine cleanings, early orthodontic evaluations, and preventive care to maintain children's dental health.

Dentists use a gentle, reassuring approach with children, often utilizing kid-friendly language, visuals, and positive reinforcement. They focus on making children comfortable and addressing their dental needs with care and patience, sometimes using sedation if necessary.
